Hospitality

We welcome guests to our community. Guests can stay in the Monastery or in Madonna House which is self catering. We have large pleasant grounds which guests are free to walk around and enjoy. There are two very pleasant beehive huts for relaxation and reading and we have an extensive library.

The Monastery has 3 guest rooms (1 single and 2 twin bedded) which are all en-suite. The minimum stay in the Monastery is two nights.

Madonna House

Madonna House is an apartment block in the grounds which is self catering. There are (2 single apartments and 2 double) the apartments are fully equipped and the minimum stay is 3 nights. Linen and towels are provided and the cupboards are stocked with breakfast food.

Alcohol and smoking is strictly forbidden and all accommodation must be pre-booked with the guest master.

To keep our costs down guests are requested to strip their beds on the day of departure and bring all rubbish to the bins.

The Oratory is open to all guests and they are free to join the community for prayers.

The Monastery and Madonna House do not have T.V. or Radio and silence is observed in the Monastery from 10pm to 6am.

St. Alexius Knock

The community at St Alexius Knock, Co. Mayo was set up in 2008. At present the house serves three purposes.

1. Administration of the Region.

2. House of Formation.

3. Hospitality and befriending.

We live a simple life style and work on our small holding growing vegetables in our garden and polytunnel. We also keep hens and ducks which supply the house with fresh eggs and we have three goats.

We aim to have the house as environmentally friendly as possible. We have a ground source heating system and the water is heated by solar.
