Our God, on All Saints’ Day, we remember with love and gratitude all those who have gone before us, who set an example through their lives, and who, through their faith, love, and humanity, brought people closer together. We give thanks for all those who lived for others during their lifetimes, helped those in need, offered comfort in difficult times, and left their mark on the world through their love. We also remember those whose names we know, and those whose stories we may never have heard, but whose lives were just as precious in Your eyes. May their example help us to treat one another with more love, patience, understanding, and care. Grant us the strength to choose goodness in our daily lives, and may we never forget that true value lies in what we give to others out of love. Keep the hope of eternal life alive in our hearts, and help us so that one day we, too, may be reunited with those who have already set out on this journey before us. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the weekend that lies ahead of us, for the opportunity to rest, for the kindness we receive, for the people who stand beside us, and for the many blessings, both great and small, that fill our days. As we approach All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, we remember with love and gratitude all those who have gone before us. We give thanks for their lives, their love, and the memories they have left in our hearts. May the example of the saints inspire us to live with greater kindness, patience, and compassion, and may all our departed loved ones rest in your eternal peace. Give comfort to those who grieve, hope to those who feel lonely, and strength to everyone facing difficulties. May these special days remind us of the value of life, the power of love, and the hope that unites us beyond death. Bless the days ahead, our community, our residents, their families, and all our colleagues. Fill our hearts with peace, gratitude, and love. Amen.

On 30 September 1979, Pope John Paul II made a historic visit to the Shrine of Knock in Ireland to mark the centenary of the Marian apparition. It was the first time a pope had ever visited Ireland. Approximately 450,000 faithful attended the Holy Mass.
In his address, the Pope emphasised the importance of devotion to the Virgin Mary, the preservation of the Christian faith, love, and peace. He prayed especially for the people of Ireland and for an end to the violence and hatred affecting the country. At the end of the Mass, he elevated the church at Knock to the status of a minor basilica and presented the shrine with a Golden Rose as a sign of his devotion to the Virgin Mary.
His visit became one of the most significant events in the history of the Irish Catholic community.
This is commemorated by this Celtic cross, which stands where the Pope said mass.

Saint Alexius, model of love and humility, help us to walk the path of love and compassion! Strengthen us as we serve the sick, the elderly, the poor, and those in need, so that through our presence we may offer comfort, through our words we may offer hope, and through our actions we may offer love. We pray that new vocations may arise in our community, and that there may be courageous, open-hearted young people who joyfully choose to serve others. Accompany and strengthen the communities of the Alexian Brothers in Hungary, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, the Philippines, and the United States! Help us to carry on our nearly 800-year-old heritage and, even in today’s world, to reach out with love, humanity, and compassion to those who need support and hope. Guide us to follow Christ’s example, so that through our lives we may embody goodness and mercy day by day! Amen.
