Saint Alexius, man of God, you are our support, our model and our patron as we carry out our ministry to the sick, the poor and the elderly. Ask our Lord to send sufficient vocations to our Congregation so that we may continue our legacy of service among those in need. Amen.

Prayer for the Alexian Order

Merciful and faithful God,

we give thanks to You for the Alexian Brothers, who for eight hundred years have been carrying the signs of Your love to the elderly, the sick, and those marginalized by society. Bless each member of their order, give them physical and spiritual strength, perseverance, and peace in their service. Strengthen all those who help them with their work, prayers, and sacrifices, so that together they may be instruments of hope and mercy. Grant, Lord, that the ministry begun eight centuries ago may remain a living source today and continue to reach out in the future to those who are most in need of love and the protection of human dignity. Send new vocations to their communities: young people with open hearts and mature souls who hear your call and joyfully offer their lives to the service of the suffering and abandoned.

Mary, Healer of the Sick, and all the saints who have walked the path of mercy, intercede for them, that their lives may be a witness to the world.

Amen.

Saint Alexius, patron saint of the homeless, pilgrims, and the Alexian Brothers, we turn to you, asking for your intercession during the new week ahead of us. Accompany us on our journey, that each step we take may strengthen our faith and commitment, and that, following your example, we may love and support one another. Grant that we may discover goodness and beauty in each day of the week, and that we may consciously seek truth and love in all our actions. Help us to face challenges with courage and perseverance, and to always remember your teachings. We ask you to bless our family, our friends, and all those we meet. Fill our hearts with peace and joy, so that every moment of the new week may be a blessing for us. We ask you to be with us every day and guide us on the path of the Lord. Amen.

Beehive Meditation Cell, referring to the shape of a beehive. These carved stone structures were in use around the 6th to 8th centuries throughout Ireland, where hermits and monks lived. A re-imagined version of these, created by one of Ireland's best-known sculptors, Imogen Stuart, can be seen in the Chapel of Reconciliation on the Knock Shrine site. You can even sit in this chamber and have a prayer and feel the atmosphere of the place.
